Read the first two chapters of Alphabet to Internet and compare the first two information revolutions due to the advent of writing and the rise of print.

  1. What specific changes have these media technologies brought to human life?
  2. How have these media technologies connected humans across great distances (space) and across different historical periods (time)?
  3. How have these media technologies influenced political action?
  4. Why did these media technologies diminish respect for tradition and authority?
  5. How has our own use of these media technologies affected or reflected our own values?
