One of the common themes we’ve encountered in the readings on the “print revolution” has been that the advent of print and the spread of information and knowledge transformed societies in fundamental ways. Moreover, the contemporary "digital age" has also transformed the viability of print to a relic of the past.

Do books still serve a fundamentally similar purpose as it did in the past?
